From late November 2024, clients with a Macquarie Bank account will need to download the Macquarie Authenticator to approve payments.

The Macquarie Mobile Banking app and the Macquarie Authenticator app are separate apps, and you will need to download both on your phone.

How is Macquarie Authenticator safer than SMS? The authenticator includes a high level of security using multi-factor authentication. SMS has become less secure as scammers have found ways to port client SIM cards. It also uses a different approach that sends information to your physical mobile device. There is no current way for someone to fake your physical device and redirect your security information.

For help, click here and follow the instructions.

We have made several representations at senior levels and explaining that not all of our clients can, or wish to download an app. If you have not downloaded the app by late November the options are

  • use a paper form to make transactions with Macquarie, or
  • set up an SMSF account in another bank that does not require you to download an app on a smart device.

Using Macquarie Bank enables us to help with your banking and streamline the accounting for you in many ways.
