Mary-Jane joined Freedom Financial Solutions FFS in 2022 where she oversaw the SMSF Setup Division until her retirement in 2025. Since then, she continues to support the SMSF setup team’s educational program as a consultant and supporting the work of the newly established Future Solutions Foundation.

Mary-Jane is an accredited Succession, Asset Protection & Estate Planning (SAPEP) Adviser, a Board of Guardians professional, and a Justice of the Peace (ACT), offering specialist guidance in structuring for succession, asset protection, and estate planning with a clear, human-focused approach.

At FFS, Mary-Jane supports its “do as we do” philosophy—not the typical “do as we say”—which has generated strong support from individuals seeking genuine, practical pathways to protect what they’ve worked hard for. She is dedicated to helping everyday people secure their financial position in an increasingly complex and fast-changing financial, legal, and regulatory environment. Her work focuses on equipping individuals with the information, structures, and strategies needed to take control of their future and shield their families from unnecessary risk.

As part of this approach, Mary-Jane continues to hold regular free online and in-the-flesh information sessions hosted by FFS and local community groups on invitation about the practicalities of the SMSF setup process.

Mary-Jane brings over three decades of experience across public, private, and international sectors. A former senior public servant and diplomat, she represented the Australian Government in Japan, Korea, and the Middle East, building deep cross-cultural and negotiation skills in complex environments. During this time she was an accredited professional interpreter in Japanese, Korean and Arabic, and authored and published of Syrian Colloquial Arabic – a functional course, a globally respected language course used in diplomatic, academic, and humanitarian fields.

Mary-Jane has also owned and operated award-winning small businesses and has been a long-time advocate for human rights, freedom, and community-led leadership. In 2015, she was awarded Best New Business by Canberra Women in Business and served as President of the Manuka Business Association. Her hospitality business was named Best Cocktail Bar (ACT) at the 2013 Australian Bartender Awards.

Between 2020 and 2022, Mary-Jane has played a prominent national role in civic engagement, helping organise large-scale public human rights events including Freedom Day, Millions March, and Convoy to Canberra rallies and was invited to stand as a candidate in Canberra ACT for the HEART Party in the 2022 and 2025 federal elections.

Mary-Jane holds a Bachelor of Arts with First Class Honours from the University of Sydney and was awarded three prestigious scholarships to study in Japan, in Tokyo and to both Nagoya University and Waseda University.

She is married to sculptor Jinho Choi and is the mother of three young adults currently attending college and university and in her spare time she is writing a monograph on the life and work of her late father, Australian artist Robert Liddicoat.

Mary-Jane continues to champion personal sovereignty, family stewardship, and ethical legacy planning in every aspect of her professional work.
